January 7, 2013

Dear Friends,

As we move into our second week of "A Year With the Bible" our reading schedule will connect us with some very important biblical texts.  In our readings from Genesis, we will read of the renewal of God's covenant with Abraham, of Abraham's great display of faith in the near sacrifice of Isaac, as well as begin what is often called, "the Jacob story."  As we move forward in our reading of the Gospel of Matthew, we will read the remaining portions of the Sermon on the Mount and then move to Jesus' life and ministry.  Our reading of the Psalms will remind us of the glory of God's wondrous creation and our reading of these brief Proverbs will deepen our understanding of the wisdom of God.

The passages before us this week are foundational to our growth in the faith and I pray God's richest blessings upon us as we read the scriptures together.

Grace & Peace,

Tom
