Dear Friends,
This week, our Old Testament readings are from the Book of Leviticus, which is primarily concerned with matters surrounding the worship of God in his sanctuary. The English name of the book, Leviticus, characterizes these passages as having to do with matters associated with the priests, (who are of the tribe of Levi). Thus, we will read of the many details surrounding offerings and sacrifices and conclude the week learning about one of the most important worship events for Israel, The Day of Atonement. Our readings from Mark will take us on a whirlwind tour of the early portion of Jesus' memory, which includes his teaching in parables, and performing miracles. In the Book of Psalms, we will read prayers for healing and deliverance as well as a Psalm of Thanksgiving for God's faithfulness. Proverbs 10 provides us with simple words of wisdom that convey a profound message.
As we move forward in our journey through the Bible as well as our journey through this Lenten season, may our reading draw us closer to the One who has drawn close to us in Jesus Christ.
Grace & Peace,
Tom Lovell
