Dear Friends,
This week our reading schedule takes us through the middle section of the Book of Numbers where we will encounter stories of the rebellion of some of the Levites, the event of Moses’ disobedience which led to his not being allowed to enter the Promised Land, as well as the very interesting story of Balaam and Balak. We will conclude our reading of Mark’s gospel which chronicles the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus and begin the gospel of Luke where we will once again hear the angels’ song and rejoice in Jesus’ miraculous birth. Our reading from the Psalms will reveal several pleas for deliverance and in Proverbs we will continue to glean common sense wisdom for our life in the world.
I continue to be impressed by the level of detail found in our Old Testament readings and rejoice in the wisdom we find in the Book of Psalms and Proverbs. How wonderful it is to know how involved God was and is in the life of his people. As we move forward in our journey through the scriptures, my prayer is that we will grow in our understanding of just how much God loves us.
Grace & Peace,
Tom Lovell
