Dear Friends,
This week's reading from the Old Testament will move us into the Book of Deuteronomy which is comprised of several addresses Moses gave to the people of Israel as they prepared to enter the "Promised Land." Deuteronomy means, "second law," and provides a rehearsal, or perhaps better said, a review of the Law of God. In our reading from Luke's gospel, we will get into the heart of Jesus' ministry, beginning with Jesus' "Sermon of the Plain," which closely resembles Matthews' account of Jesus' "Sermon on the Mount." We will also be introduced to Jesus' parables as well as the commissioning of the Twelve Disciples. Our reading from the Book of Psalms will present us with prayers for deliverance, a lament from one who is aging, as well as a prayer for King Solomon. In Proverbs, we continue to glean words of wisdom that promote the value of a life of righteousness.
As we move forward in our journey through the scriptures as well as our journey through this Holy Week, may God's Spirit enlighten us through the wonders of God's holy word.
Grace & Peace,
Tom Lovell
