May 20, 2013

Dear Friends,

As we continue our journey through the scriptures, our Old Testament reading for this week will move us from the last days of King Saul to the beginning of the reign of King David, who reunited the Northern and Southern Kingdoms of Israel into one nation of God's people.  In II Samuel 7, we will read of God's promise to establish his "house" with David which serves as the great Messianic prophecy for God's people, the line from which Christ will descend 1,000 years in the future.  In John's gospel, we will move to the events just prior to Jesus' final entry into Jerusalem, including the raising of Lazarus from the dead.  Our reading from Psalms will bring us to the longest chapter in the Bible in Psalm 119, which is a celebration of the Law of God.  Finally, the wisdom of God continues to be revealed to us in our reading of Proverbs.

May God continue to guide us as we read his word together.

Grace & Peace,

Tom Lovell
