Dear Friends,
I hope all of you had a wonderful Memorial Day and offered a prayer of thanksgiving for all of those who have given of themselves to preserve our freedoms and keep us safe. This week, our readings will move us through the heart of II Samuel where we will read of David's indiscretion with Bathsheba and of the way in which the prophet, Nathan, held David accountable for his wrong-doing. You may also want to re-read Psalm 51 as this Psalm is the prayer of confession David prayed after being confronted with his sin. In John's gospel, we will read of the final week of Jesus' life including his "high priestly prayer" in chapter 17 as well as the account of his crucifixion, resurrection, and the appearances of the resurrected Christ. We will conclude our reading of Psalm 119 this week and continue to be given wisdom from our reading of Proverbs.
As our journey through the scriptures moves toward the half-way point, I trust that this time of reading God's Word has indeed been a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path.
Grace & Peace,
Tom Lovell
