Dear Friends,
Our readings for this week from both the Old Testament and the New Testament are historical in nature. As we continue our reading of I Kings, we move into the second collection of the history of the people of Israel as we read of King Solomon's reign and the glory of his palace and of God's Temple. In the Book of Acts, we will read of the expansion of the Christian Church and the difficulties it faced by those determined to derail the growth of the church. Chief among those opponents of Christianity was Saul of Tarsus, who, as we know, had a dramatic conversion experience on the road to Damascus which is chronicled for us in the ninth chapter of Acts. In our reading from the Psalms, we will be reminded of the joy and happiness that comes as a result of our relationship with God. Those whose hair may be graying a bit will appreciate the reading from Proverbs 16:31 which reads, "Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life."
May God continue to bless us as we move forward in our journey through his Word.
Grace & Peace,
Tom Lovell
