Dear Friends,
I pray that you are having a wonderful start to the summer and that your reading of God's Word provides inspiration for each day. This week, our Old Testament reading continues the dramatic confrontations between Elijah and Ahab which reaches its height with Elijah's confrontation with the prophets of Baal on Mt. Carmel (one of my favorite passages in all of scripture). As we move into II Kings, the mantle of prophetic leadership will be transferred to Elisha, both literally and figuratively. In the Book of Acts, we will read of another transition as the narrative changes its focus from the ministry of Peter and the disciples to the ministry of the Apostle Paul. Our reading from the Book of Psalms will include those wonderful words of Psalm 139, which remind us that no matter where we are, God is with us. And, as always, the Proverbs will provide us with yet more nuggets of common sense wisdom.
May God continue to bless us as we move forward in our journey through the scriptures.
Grace & Peace,
Tom Lovell
