Dear Friends,
This week, we read of the glory of Solomon as II Chronicles records for us the magnificence of the temple and the success of Solomon's reign. Unfortunately, beginning with Solomon's son, Rehoboam, and continuing through the reign of the kings which followed, God's people lived through a period of great uncertainty which would ultimately end with their exile.
In our reading from Romans, we move into what I consider to be some of the most important words of scripture. The eighth chapter of Romans has long since been a favorite of Presbyterians as it reminds us of God's providence and grace and assures us that there is nothing in all of creation which can separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord.
In Proverbs, we are once again cautioned against moving away from the wisdom of God and reminded of the consequences of such a live, but also reminded of the joy which comes from fearing the Lord our God.
May God continue to bless us as we read his Holy Word together.
Grace & Peace,
Tom Lovell
