Dear Friends,
This week our reading from II Chronicles will take us on a roller-coaster-like ride through the ups and downs and twists and curves of the reign of several kings of the southern kingdom of Israel known as Judah. Beginning with the restoration of the temple under the reign of Joash to the struggles under Amaziah and Ahaz, to the reform instituted by Josiah, the people of Israel struggled to live faithfully as God's people. And while there were some bright spots, the rebellion of the people eventually led to their exile in Babylon until the reign of King Cyrus of Persia, who finally issued an order for all of Israel to return to Jerusalem.
As we conclude our reading of Paul's Letter to the Romans, we will be exhorted to follow God's standards for life, celebrate the gifts of every member of the church and even to be respectful and obedient to governmental authorities. In Proverbs, we will be reminded of the consequences of unwise actions or words and the wisdom of right actions.
May God continue to bless us as we move forward on our journey through the scriptures.
Grace & Peace,
Tom Lovell
