Dear Friends,
This week our journey through the scriptures moves us out of the prophecy of Isaiah and into the prophecy of Jeremiah and serves to rewind the history of God's people. The final chapters of Isaiah are words to the people of Israel following their return from exile and the restoration of Jerusalem. Jeremiah's prophecy begins in the late 7th century before Christ as he is called to proclaim God's word to the southern kingdom of Judah some 30 or so years prior to the exile to Babylon in 586 BC. These early chapters of Jeremiah chronicle his call to ministry at a very young age and his "job description" which is found in 1:9-10.
In our New Testament reading, we will read Paul's Letter to the Philippians which is by far Paul's most cordial letter. Highlights of this letter include that wonderful Christological hymn found in chapter two as well as the assurance in chapter 4 that we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength.
May God continue to bless us as we move forward in our journey through the scriptures.
Grace & Peace,
Tom Lovell
