Dear Friends,
This week, our reading moves us through the heart of Jeremiah's prophecy with the promise that God will inscribe his law (his Word) upon our hearts. Throughout the Bible, God always takes the initiative to form a relationship with us, and even though most of Jeremiah's prophecy is one of warning and judgment, there are glimpses of God's grace to his wayward people. In our New Testament reading, we will conclude Paul's second letter to the Thessalonians and move into his very pastoral letter to his young protégé, Timothy. In the third Chapter of I Timothy, we will read of the qualifications of those who seek to serve the church in special ways. This chapter serves as the foundation of the qualifications for those who are elected to serve the church as Ministers, Elders and Deacons found in the Book of Order.
May God continue to bless us as we read his Word together.
Grace & Peace,
Tom Lovell
