November 11

Dear Friends,

This week, our journey through the scriptures moves us through the middle chapters of the Book of Ezekiel where we find some rather interesting allegories. In the first allegory, Ezekiel uses the image of two sisters who "played the harlot" as examples of how both Israel and Judah had violated their covenant with God by worship the gods of others. In the second allegory, Ezekiel uses the image of a boiling pot to represent the impending siege of Jerusalem when the power of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon power would soon be poured out upon Jerusalem. Fortunately, our reading for this week concludes with the beginning of Ezekiel's words of hope for the restoration of Israel.

In the Book of Hebrews, we move to those wonderful passages in chapters 11 & 12 which remind us of the faithfulness of God throughout history and which also serve as motivation and encouragement for us to keep the faith and to trust in God when life is difficult.

As always, the Proverbs continue to bless us with the wisdom of God.

Our journey through the Bible is nearing its end and I pray that God will continue to inspire us as we read his Word together.

Grace & Peace,

Tom Lovell
