Dear Friends,
This week, our Old Testament readings bring us to the Book of Daniel, which is one of the most interesting books in all of scripture. Daniel contains two primary sections. Chapters 1-6 contain what scholars term six "court stories." These are stories of Daniel and his friends as they stand firm in their faith while living in a land and a time hostile to their belief in God. The second section, chapters 7-12 contain Daniel's visions and are filled with a variety of images and symbols which I will discuss next week. Enjoy the court stories as they are most fascinating. In our reading from the New Testament we conclude the Letters of Peter, the second of which is somewhat apocalyptic in nature as it deals with false prophets and the second coming of Christ.
May God continue to bless us as we move forward in our journey through the scriptures.
Grace & Peace,
Tom Lovell
